Staying Centered: Treatment Planning and Documentation in CCPT
In Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), the therapist trusts the child’s innate capacity for growth and healing through the therapeutic power of play. Yet in many clinical settings, play therapists are also required to develop structured treatment plans and provide detailed documentation.
Staying Centered equips play therapists with the tools to create developmentally appropriate, clinically sound treatment plans and documentation that remain true to the principles of CCPT. Participants will learn how to identify therapeutic goals grounded in the child’s emotional and developmental needs, monitor progress using play-based indicators, and document sessions in a way that reflects the child’s process while meeting the clinical, ethical, and administrative expectations of diverse practice settings.
Through interactive activities, case examples, and discussion, this workshop offers practical guidance for maintaining fidelity to the CCPT model—while confidently communicating the value and effectiveness of the work to caregivers, supervisors, and other professionals.
